Joe Austin is a UK-based director specialising in opera and theatre. His work is characterised by a commitment to bold storytelling and a deep respect for the collaborative process. Joe has worked at renowned venues such as Royal Ballet and Opera House (London), Houston Grand Opera and Opera de Geneve, with notable works including Acis and Galatea and Der Ring des Nibelungen. His approach integrates bold ideas with a sensitivity to the performers’ own interpretation, aiming to create immersive experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

Joe enjoys working individually with singers in workshops, coaching and classes to prepare them for auditions, roles and life in the professional world. Alongside private sessions, Joe has worked at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Royal college of Music, and is looking forward to working with Royal Academy of Music in the near future.
